What is the difference between OpenUp and OpenUp Medical?
OpenUp offers unlimited access to (online) psychological help via video consultations, telephone (020 2444888) and chat. The consultations last 25 minutes.
OpenUp Medical offers online support by medical doctors and dietitians via video consultations (25 minutes) and chat. The group of doctors consists of medical doctors and general practitioners who have been trained in lifestyle science.
How does OpenUp Medical Work?
OpenUp Medical offers unlimited access to online support with medical doctors. Via video sessions or chat. The sessions take 25 minutes. We focus on prevention, sleep, nutrition, exercise, breathing, stress, energy, habits and lifestyle.
We always start with a (free) introduction session to find out what’s going on and whether your request for help fits in with the services of OpenUp Medical. If that’s the case, you can start talking to each other more often. If your question doesn’t fit with OpenUp’s services (also psychologists via OpenUp), we’ll be happy to discuss alternatives with you.
What are the opening hours of OpenUp Medical?
OpenUp Medical available for you on Monday to Friday from 09:00 till 17:00 CEST
In which languages is OpenUp (Medical) available?
OpenUp Medical (doctors) is currently available in English and Dutch.
OpenUp (psychologists) offers +17 languages, e.g. English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese (Mandarin), Croatian, Arabic, Serbian, and many more.
Is access to OpenUp Medical anonymous?
No, we do not share personal information with your employer without your explicit approval. At OpenUp (Medical), mutual trust and our professional code guide our services. If the consultation is offered by your employer, they do pay the bill. We have agreed that the bill will not indicate who is involved. In this way the confidentiality is guaranteed.
How is my privacy guaranteed?
At OpenUp (Medical), we believe that mutual trust and the professional code guide our services. Therefore, it goes without saying that your privacy is an important right. We are NEN7510 and ISO27001 certified, which means that we meet the (legal) requirements for information security within the healthcare sector.
Our business is structured in such a way that you as a (future) user of our services can be sure that the personal data you share with us is in safe hands. Below we have described the principles on which our policy regarding privacy & data trust is based. For more information we refer you to our detailed privacy statement.
What happens to my personal data?
When you ask one of our psychologists or medical doctors for help, you agree on a so-called ‘medical treatment agreement’. With this agreement you give permission to use your data where we need them to help you with your request for help. You can call us at all times to request to delete your data. We ask for your permission to use your data in an anonymous or pseudonymized form for the improvement of our diagnostics and treatment. In this way we improve our (psycho)medical care for future clients. We will only process your data for the purposes for which it is necessary.
Who may see my personal data?
Insight into your personal data is limited. We will not provide your personal data to third parties, except if this is necessary for the execution of our services. Only employees who are involved in the treatment have access to your (psycho) medical information, other personal data is only accessible to employees who need it for our business operation. Our practitioners are medically certified and subject to professional code. Other employees have a duty of confidentiality. Where possible, we work as much as possible with anonymised or pseudonymized data.
What about the security of our online systems and parties we work with?
Our systems and processes are secured to prevent your data from being used for purposes other than those intended. All partners we work with to provide our services are selected on the basis of strict requirements regarding their reliability, integrity and security. We have a processing agreement with all our partners.
Does OpenUp comply with all applicable laws and legal guidelines?
Yes, we comply with all applicable laws and legal guidelines. We comply with all guidelines that apply within the framework of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and existing regulations on privacy in healthcare. We are NEN7510 and ISO27001 certified, which means that we meet the (legal) requirements for information security within the healthcare system.
Is video calling truly safe?
Absolutely! For video calling, we use the secure app 24sessions. In addition, mutual trust the our professional code are leading in our services.

How does OpenUp (Medical) handle liability?
At OpenUp (Medical) we do everything we can to provide the best possible care. In addition, we work with well-trained psychologists, medical doctors and dietitians through our professional code of conduct. The advice that OpenUp (Medical) gives you is always without any obligation. This means that OpenUp (Medical) cannot be held liable for consequential damage. Every participation in a treatment is therefore entirely at your own risk. In legal language, it is important to know this:
- OpenUp (Medical) is not liable for damage of any nature whatsoever, caused by OpenUp (Medical) based on incorrect and/or incomplete information provided by you about relevant physical or psychological conditions, use of medication, work activities or certain leisure activities.
- The information and advice provided by OpenUp (Medical) are only of general nature and without any obligation
- OpenUp (Medical) is not liable for damage of any kind, caused by a wrong interpretation by the client.
- OpenUp (Medical) is never liable for consequential damage.
How much does OpenUp Medical cost?
Does your employer have a partnership with OpenUp? Then the consultations are paid for by your employer. Ask the well-being expert how many consultations your employer pays.
Do employees really have unlimited access?
Yes, in a collaboration between employer and OpenUp (Medical), employees have unlimited access to all services that OpenUp (Medical) offers. This also includes 1-on-1 consultations. Together with the employee, the psychologist, medical doctor or dietitian will assess how many conversations are needed to get started with a request for help. On average, a trajectory consist of 3 to 5 sessions.
